Providing forensic engineering services for litigation to the legal profession and insurance sector for over 40 years, David L. Semple & Associates specialise in court-related engineering consultancy and expert witness work – with perhaps the longest history of specialisation in this area in the country, and with a range of engineering disciplines in-house, we consider ourselves one of Ireland’s leading firms of consulting forensic engineers. We have a vast depth and breadth of corporate experience, and have seen, and adapted to, multiple changes in this field of work over the course of four decades. With individual professional qualifications in civil, structural, and mechanical engineering across our team of engineers, we provide solicitors, barristers, insurers, liability adjusters, and ultimately clients, with the right advice and answers.
From preliminary opinions to final reports and giving evidence on liability in disputes involving technical issues, in cases ranging from industrial and other workplace accidents and injuries, through road traffic and public liability accidents, from footpath trips, to slips, trips and falls, from manual handling and repetition injuries, to dangerous driving and other crime cases, we can tackle almost anything you might throw at us ….
Preparing engineering reports, fit for court, is what we do: Our service includes accepting briefings from instructing agents, examining legal pleadings and client and witness statements and reports, conducting site inspections (typically liaising with other forensic engineers), interviewing clients, and taking site measurements and photographs for inclusion in technical reports. We can help with cases at PIAB (Injures Board) stage.
Beyond reports, we can assist in relation to legal Discovery and related matters.
We are familiar with workplace safety legislation, and we have excellent working relationships with the other forensic engineers operating in Ireland and liaise with them to make joint site inspection arrangements where appropriate. We are members of the Association of Consulting Forensic Engineers (ACFE), the professional body for forensic engineers in Ireland. Our engineers are also members of Engineers Ireland.
